Lothian, Maryland

In Maryland, I crocheted a teal blue top. I am quite happy with it. I haven't ever crocheted a piece of clothing before :)

We got to Maryland last Friday, the 1st. When we got there, we were all starving and had no food in the camper to eat. We set off to look for food. After driving around for an hour, we finally found a Chili's. After we ate, we decided going to the grocery store would be a good idea. There was a place called Giant down the road from Chili's. It is kind of like a Walmart, just not as big. They had a wonderful organic and natural foods section. When we came out of the store, it was pouring down rain. There was traffic on the way back to the campground, too, because of several wrecks.

That night, there were severe thunderstorms and tornados. We thought Walmart would be a better place to be than the camper in a tornado. So, we went to Walmart around 11 that night. After the storms were pretty much passed, we went back to the campground and went to bed.

Saturday was a sit around, crochet, and read kind of day.

Sunday, we hooked up with the Johnson's. They were in Maryland visiting some friends of theirs. We went to church with them.

Monday was Washington DC day.
Where we wrote the Metro (interesting...), saw Abraham Lincoln, the Washington Monument, the White House, Ford's Theater (where Abraham Lincoln was shot), and the Declaration of Independence. We also ate sandwich's and soup at Potbelly's, and snacked at Starbucks.
It was a fun-filled day.
 A lot of walking, though.

Tuesday, we went to Alexandria, Virginia to see Mt. Vernon. We took a riverboat cruise on the Potomac River, and toured the inside of George Washington's home. We even saw where he was buried. MaeBeth had the most fun, I think. She is currently learning about George Washington in school. She thought it was the coolest thing to get to go inside the house he actually lived in ;)

On Wednesday, we stayed at the campground to rest after two long days of walking and touring. I made a bruschetta with avocado salad, and we later made s'mores!

We went back to DC on Thursday. I wanted to go to the Library of Congress, which we did. Dad got tickets for us to go inside Ford's Theater, so we went there as well. I did not get to see it because I got sick for a minute, which was totally weird, and had to go outside.

We ate lunch at a place called Freshii's. Goodness, it was delicious. The best salad I have ever eaten. I hope there are more of them around the country. I'd like to go again.

We went to the Smithsonian Museums, too. Not all 19 of them, of course. Only 3 of them. I will just tell you right now... not as impressive as I remember them being when I was in 7th grade. They were okay, but not as awesome as I thought. Been there, done that ;)

This guy is so cute. I had to get a picture of him. He is sitting in the Museum of Natural History in the Mammal Hall. He looks as if he is singing. I love it.

This guy was juggling. Pretty neat ;)
